Do you know any military family members needing some mental health peer support as the new year begins? If so, our next NAMI Family-to-Family class will be starting in a couple of weeks.
This class will be held at a local veterans service center and will be led by Jim and Jane Bloise — a 20-year Army veteran and his spouse, who understand the unique challenges of military life. Jane and Jim have led NAMI’s Family-to-Family and Homefront classes numerous times. They bring a wealth of compassion and experience to their class participants.
This 8-week, no-cost class is open to anyone with a loved one who is over 18 and living with a mental health condition. That includes civilians. However, this particular class will offer special consideration for military family members and friends who attend. The topics we cover include diagnoses, treatments, crisis planning, communication strategies, self-care, and more.
Family-to-Family will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on eight consecutive Wednesdays starting January 15. Pre-registration for this class is required, click here for more information. We’re happy to send the registration link directly to anyone who is interested.
NAMI also still offers weekly support groups both for people living with mental health conditions and for their family members. Current information about our support groups can be found on the website.
